Preparing for your session
Senior year is a memorable time and capturing it with a photoshoot is a wonderful way to preserve these memories.
I’m sharing my best tips to help you get the most out of your photo session and truly enjoy the experience. I want you to feel prepared, enjoy yourself and love your photos. Here are some tips on how to prepare in the days leading up to your session:
Plan your outfit(s).
Select a few outfits that showcase different aspects of your personality. Consider formal, casual, and themed outfits to add variety to your images.
Select color that complement your skin tone and eye color. Avoid distracting patterns.
Make sure your outfits are comfortable to allow you to be able to move freely in different poses. This will also help you feel more at ease during the session.
Grooming & Beauty.
Start a skincare routine weeks before your session to ensure your skin is clear and glowing. Stay hydrated and get plenty of rest before your session.
Guys: get a haircut a week or two before your session and make sure your nails are trimmed and clean.
Gals: if you are wearing make up for your session, decide if you are going for the natural look or something more glamorous. Practice doing your make up ahead of time or consider hiring a professional.
Location & Props.
Pick locations that hold a personal significance or offer beautiful backdrops. This could be your favorite park, a city scape, or even the beach.
Include items that represent your hobbies or interests, such as sports equipment, musical instruments, or books. Don’t forget your cap and gown!
Day of Preparation.
Pack & bring a bag with essentials such as water, snacks, hairbrush or comb, makeup for touchups, and any props/ accessories.
Give yourself plenty of time to arrive on location. This will help you avoid feeling rushed for the session.
Keep an eye on the weather and be prepared for any changes. Depending on the weather, layering will help you stay comfortable. This way you can easily adjust your outfit if gets warmer or cooler.
Maintain a positive attitude throughout the day. A positive mindset and cheerful disposition will translate into your photos.
Relax and let me do the work.
No matter what comes up, give yourselves grace and flexibility. Even when days don’t go as planned, I am likely capturing glances and smiles you aren’t even seeing.
